Interconnection of DCN16U switchboards into the network
DCN16U base unit is equipped with 4 TDM flows, which goes to RJ45 socket at the front panel. TDM flows are intended for direct interconnection of base units for system aggregate capacity increase. Cables of twisted pair type UTP 5th category with the length up to 2 meters are used for switchboards connection via TDM ports. The maximum number of base units in system is 4. «Each to each» connection diagram is used to ensure switching field non-blocking.

Multi-module system shall have well-defined synchronization scheme: in such system one module is the main (master), all other are slave ones, i.e. their generators are adjusting according to master signals. In the system consisting of several DCN16U, module with number 0 is always a master. Configuration of synchronization mode is set by means of switches at the board of each DCN16U unit.
System built on base of DCN16U switchboards has a continuous three-digit numbering, i.e. each to each subscriber in such system one unique number, consisting of three digits, is assigned.
Since one TDM flow enables transfer of only 30 B-channels and for communication of simplex subscribers' units 2 channels are required, the condition of non-blocking limit the number of connected subscribers for each base unit to 15, in case of network system. Thus, the maximum capacity of the system consisting of 4 DCN16U switchboards is 60 subscribers.
During building of DCN distributed system it can be required to connect remote DCN16U switchboards. In these cases the installation of E1 modules in required at those TDM flows, which will be used for remote base unit connections. At that any standard network equipment, that enable transparent broadcast of E1 lines (cable and optical modems, multiplexers, gateways, etc.) can be used. The interconnection of DCN16U switchboards via E1 lines is performed using ?Armtel? protocol.
Any of TDM flows can be used for connection of autoinformator module. If any of TDM flows is used for connection of autoinformator module, that flow and its corresponding place cannot be used for installation of E1 nodule.
