Administration software DCN system control, adjustment, commissioning and control over functioning are possible both locally and remotely from the APM administrator. Local connection of the APM administrator to the DCN switchboard is performed via RS-232 interface. The basis of the APM administrator is Configurator software which is made as an application for Windows 2000/XP, and in a convenient graphical formrepresents all the systemcomponents including base units, connections between them, subscribers' appliances and buttons' functions. The software has an intuitively understandable interface and is provided with a detailed questionanswering systemwhere all the options of programming are described. Apart from Configurator the APM administrator includes terminal software for overview of the messages on system monitoring and troubleshooting as well as specialized utilities for loading of the built-in switchboard software. Troubleshooting The DCN communication system performs continuous monitoring of operation of all the nodes and peripheral devices and produces messages on failures in several various ways. Troubleshooting and failures indication means ensure quick and convenient system servicing and recovery and contain several levels: Indication on the subscriber object buttons If some digital subscriber's appliance or unit-to-unit interface fails a message on unavailability comes in a form of backlight of the object buttons on those subscribers' appliances which had connections with the unavailable subscribers. This allows controlling the system operable condition directly from the dispatcher's working place. Indicators on the front panel of a switchboard, modules of protective devices Indicators on the front panel give full understanding of all switchboard nodes functioning, subscriber appliances, communication lines, power supply devices and subscriber protective devices. Pins for connection of external messages on failures and failure warning devices There are extra inlets for connection of external sources of messages on errors, e.g. multipurpose modules of subscribers' protective devices, power-supply system, centralized amplifiers. If failure occurs in any of these devices a signal will come to the indicator located on the front panel of the DCN16U switchboard, as well as to the pins of the external warning devices. A switchboard has two levels of emergency indication, each has a respective indicator on the front panel, and relay pins to connect external warning device: Critical error (Emergency1, relay K1) - failure of primary power supply protective device -48B
- absence of secondary power supply +5B
- absence of secondary power supply +3.3B
- CPU failure or software error
- hardware failures produced by the CPU
non-critical error (Emergency2, relay K2) - inlet for external source is defective
- phantom power supply fuse 1,2,3,4 has blown
- disconnection of one or several subscribers
- mismatching to configuration or wrong configuration
Messages of monitoring software sent to the terminal connected to the system via serial port. Messages come from the CPU of the switchboard immediately if any event occurs. Apart from messages on failures diagnostic messages of various level of detailing describing current processes of communication in the system are also displayed.
