DCN-2 Exchange Unit at a Glance

    Digital DCN-2 central exchange unit is designed to connect up to 16 DCN-1 exchange units with up to 240 subscribers' devices to the “Armtel” DCN multifunctional industrial intercom system to provide simplex and duplex PA and intercom communication at industrial sites with rugged and explosion-hazardous and extreme noise environment. Moreover, DCN-2 provides interconnection of two or more digital PABX via E1 digital interfaces (in this case the number of DCN-1central exchange units decreases by the number of PABX).
    DCN-2 can be used in steel, chemical, gas and oil industries and industries with similar environment as well as in the railway sector. DCN 2 can also be used in the army, police and emergency call service broadcasting lines, and if necessary, it can be integrated into the state telecommunication network.

Control Panel Buttons and Connectors

- RS-232 – interface RS-232 for the maintenance purposes;
- Ethernet – interface RJ-45 for the remote access to DCN-2 from a PC.

Monitoring LEDs:

- S1 – 4E1 boards state LEDS;
- 1-4 – E1 slots (connected to devices) state LEDs;
- RST – CPU hard reset button;
- CPU – CPU's current state LEDs, CPU1 (top) – CPU state, system timer and processor mode, CPU2 (bottom) – reserved;
- DSP – DSP state LEDs, DSP1 (top) – DSP state, DSP2 (bottom) – DSP-CPU connection state;

DCN-2 supports the following standardized communication protocols:

- Q.931 for OSI model connection on the network level (layer-3 specification for D-channel), provides control of calls
and set of extra services, call routing with channel commutation;
- I.452 (Q.932) – common procedures for extra ISDN services management;
- Q.921 (LAP-D) for the frame structure and content defining on the OSI data link layer (D-channel), network
interface of ISDN user is the specification of the data link layer;
- I.430 CCITT recommendations (ISDN standard) to provide data transmission on the OSI physical layer and basic
access;
- I.431 CCITT recommendations (ISDN standard) to provide data transmission on the OSI physical layer and main
access;
- ANSI T1.604 – minimal services set of ISDN base channel interface;
- I.432 CCITT recommendations (ISDN standard) – B-ISDN user's network interface – physical layer specification;
- DSS1 – subscriber signalling protocol;
- EDSS1 – protocol of data exchange via external digital lines.
